Neema Varghese
Neema has over fifteen years of experience in corporate finance advisory. She has experience advising clients (both debtors and creditors) in bankruptcy situations, turnarounds, forensic accounting, asset divestiture, joint ventures, debt restructuring, transaction advisory services through buy side and sell side merger and acquisition analysis and post-merger integration.
In 2020, Neema was appointed by the Department of Justice to serve as a Subchapter V Trustee for the Northern District of Illinois Bankruptcy Court. In this appointment Neema oversees bankruptcy matters in her jurisdiction to help provide resolution and progress to debtors and creditors facing distressed situations.
Neema has served a number of industries including healthcare, retail, real estate, consumer products, food/beverage, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, distribution, transportation, oil/gas and others.
Neema's recent engagement experience includes:
- Providing lender advisory services and quality of earnings (QOE) reports for leading financial institutions. Entities served include a major over-the-counter and RX pharmaceutical company, a $215 million oil services provider, 6 hospital system grossing over $250 million in revenues, a plastic injection molder, a major third party logistics (3PL) carrier, and a middle market paper distributor. Conducted extensive management interviews, financial analysis on historical data as well as future projections. Reports provided key insight to banks and several recommendations for internal improvements.
- Leading a $500 million long-term acute care operator of over 18 facilities nationwide through a Chapter 11 filing and sale of assets.
- Implementing various improvement initiatives with management of a $450 million multi-hospital system, yielding a $22 million EBITDA annual improvement and a sale of substantially all assets of the company for far greater than the outstanding secured debt through a Ch. 11 proceeding and Section 363 sale.
- Producing carve-out financial statements of a $20 billion transportation company for a potential spin-off and S-1 registration of a cash generating business segment.

Before forming NV Consulting Services, Neema worked at a large consulting firm for 10 years. Prior to becoming a restructuring and turnaround advisor, Neema served as a creditor to distressed middle market clients in the loan workout group at Merrill Lynch and at American Chartered Bank. She also served as an account manager at Zurich North America. In 2016, Neema received the 7th Annual Emerging Leader Award (formerly the 40 under 40) from the M&A Advisor.
